There was one instance in which I was wrong about how I looked on someone. It all started when I first me one of my old friends at my old school.
He came in 6th grade, and he didn’t seem to care much that he had left his old school. He was relatively large for his age, and he seemed very quiet. I didn’t really talk to him because I didn’t think he would have much to say. He seemed rather shy. However, I was completely and totally wrong. He was very energetic and very social. He was not afraid to do anything out of the ordinary, and he was very outspoken.
It felt kind of weird being so off about his personality. I think the reason I was wrong was that I didn’t go up and talk to him in the first place. It was almost shocking the night and day difference between the personality I assumed he had and his actual personality. I felt a little dumb afterwards, for pretty obvious reasons. I later became good friends with the kid, and was friends with him until he went to a different school (now my friendship with him is limited to pretty much facebook).
I try not to judge people to often, and I am glad to have learned a lesson about what might happen if you automatically assume something about a person.
